Miles Student Selected for Broadcast Seminar in NC
Fairfield, AL March 6 — The Miles College Division of Communications is pleased to announce Teresa Wells’ selection into the National Association of Black Journalists’ Broadcast Short Course at North Carolina A&T. The dates for the seminar are March 12–15.
Wells is a 24–year-old senior with a specialization in Electronic and Visual Communications. She is a native of San Diego and graduates in May 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. Wells also recently performed as a camera rigger on the Speed TV show Pinks where she was responsible for placement and maintenance of cameras in drag vehicles. Currently, Ms. Wells is a reporter for the campus news program, MCTV – the Studio. She is deeply interested in communications and hopes her skills will allow her to serve as an entertainment reporter following graduation.
About the short course
The NABJ Student Broadcast Short Course is aimed at encouraging more African American journalism students to pursue television management as a career. The project will give students access to African Americans who currently work as news directors, producers, writers, assignment editors, directors and the like, at some of the top television stations in the country, as well as give them hands–on experience and a practical understanding of what these jobs entail.
Course schedule
The seminar will run from Wednesday through Saturday. The schedule is as follows:
Wednesday 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. “Shooting and Editing 101,” Opening Reception
Thursday All-day Seminars and Workshops
Friday Assignments and Newsroom Operations
Saturday Taping of Newscast & Critique Session
