Atlanta Association of Black Journalists Scholarship
The Atlanta Association of Black Journalists (AABJ) is excited to assist students in their desire to achieve success in the journalism field. Since 1976, the AABJ has served as the collective voice of the city's African American media talent, representing hundreds of communications' professionals in print, radio, television, public relations and new media.
The AABJ recognizes the best and the brightest in the field at the Pioneer Black Journalist Awards, attended by representatives from every
major media outlet in the city as well as corporate sponsors who support the Xernona Clayton Scholarship Fund.
The Xernona Clayton Scholarship Fund awards up to $10,000 annually to deserving college students in the metro Atlanta area who are pursuing
journalism careers. The eligibility requirements for receiving the scholarship awards are listed on the application information
sheet (download here).
The deadline to apply for this year's award is Friday, September 14, 2007. The winners will be recognized at the AABJ 28th Pioneer Black Journalist Awards on October 6, 2007.
Please make all qualified students aware of this wonderful opportunity.
Feel free to reproduce as many copies of the scholarship application as needed and contact me directly at 404-523-7368 or via e-mail at
ehaines@ap.org if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your continued support of the AABJ.
